Contract Growing Services Melbourne

Pansy, Viola, Petunia, Vinca, Marigold and more.

Plantex Nursery has been growing colour to brighten events for more than 20 years. Our contract growing service allows customers to secure specific varieties, quantities and delivery schedules for landscape projects, retail promotions, councils and major events. We have extensive experience growing Pansy, Viola, Petunia, Vinca, Marigold and many other seasonal colour varieties to meet individual project requirements.

We know how important it is to have the right stock at the right time. The size, shape and amount of flowers must be perfectly timed to create a beautiful display. From our wholesale production nursery in Clyde, South East Melbourne, Victoria, we work closely with customers to ensure every contract growing program is delivered to the highest standard.

Over the years, Plantex Nursery has supplied contract-grown plants for some of Australia’s most recognised events, including the Formula One Australian Grand Prix, Presidents Cup Golf Tournament and Spring Racing Carnival at Flemington, Caulfield and Randwick racecourses.

Many landscapers across Melbourne and Victoria choose Plantex Nursery to grow stock for their clients, business gardens, churches, councils and public spaces, including projects in Toorak, Kew and Portsea.

Why Partner with Plantex for Contract Growing?

With over 20 years of experience supplying contract-grown plants for major events, retail nurseries, landscapers and councils, Plantex Nursery has the expertise, facilities and production capacity to deliver reliable results every time.

Twenty years of getting it right on the day

Contract plant growing Melbourne event builders trust looks like this: the stock has to be the right size, the right shape, and carrying the right amount of flower on a fixed date — with no second chance.

We have been doing that for over twenty years. Plantex-grown colour has gone into the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix, the Australian Open and the Spring Racing Carnival, alongside annual colour programs for shire councils across Melbourne.

An event date does not move. Neither does ours.

How contract growing works

We grow to your delivery window. We do not warehouse finished stock waiting for a call — the crop is programmed to finish when your site needs it.

What you needHow it is served
Under 200 of a lineUsually in stock — order off the Friday availability list
Bulk for a display or promotionDirect from production
Specific variety, volume and dateContract grown — allow 12 to 16 weeks from order to finished stock

Those two numbers save a lot of phone calls. Under 200 plants of a line, do not bother with a contract — it is on the list. Over that, or if you need a specific variety on a specific day, talk to us three to four months out.

Who it suits

Events. Fixed date, exact specification, no tolerance for a crop finishing late. Major events usually take our 205mm product, where the plant has to be read as finished the moment it goes in the ground.

Shire councils. Annual colour programs are planned well ahead, with consistent supply across multiple sites. Councils and large plantings generally take 100mm potted colour — the format we move in bulk volume.

Landscapers. Staged planting schedules on larger jobs, where stock has to arrive as each stage is ready.

Councils generally find us rather than the other way round. There are only a couple of growers in Melbourne who can supply 100mm potted colour in bulk, and that is what we are built to do — volume, to a date, at a consistent grade.
